How do riparian forest structure and stream characteristics differ between old growth and mature second growth forests? To address this question we are evaluating streams and their associated riparian forests in the Adirondack mountains of New York. This region contains both mature second growth forests and some of the largest tracts of remnant old growth forest in the northeastern United States.
