Evaluation of Student Performance

Students will be graded on two homework exercises and on classroom participation, including both attendance and active participation in classroom discussions. Class attendance is essential. If you are unable to attend a class you must contact me via email or other direct means prior to your absence or, if circumstances prevent that, as soon as possible thereafter.

There are two written homework assignments, which are due in both printed form at the start of class on the due date.  Unexcused submissions (see attendance policy above) after the due date/time normally will receive only partial credit, with a 5% point deduction for each day or partial day the assignment is late.

Grade distribution:

Two assignments (20%)

Classroom participation and attendance (80%)

There will be two ABET portfolio assignments that Forest Engineering and Forest Engineering/Civil Engineering majors must complete at a minimum professional level in order to receive a passing grade in the class.  Students will receive the grade on these assignments that reflects the work that they turn in when the assignment is due.  If this grade is below 70% [the minimum professional level], FE and FE/CE majors will be required to revise the assignment until it meets the minimum standard, at which time the revised grade will be entered in the grade book. Failure to complete the ABET portfolio assignments at a minimum professional level will result in an I/F grade at the end of the term.
